MLB: Seattle 9, Toronto 7

SEATTLE, Aug. 7 (UPI) -- Humberto Quintero capped a big fifth-inning uprising with a go-ahead, two-run homer Wednesday and the Seattle Mariners rallied for a 9-7 win over Toronto.

The Mariners fell behind 7-2 early in the game but got a run back in the fourth when Quintero supplied a run-scoring fielder's choice grounder, then exploded for six more in the fifth, sending 10 men to the plate.

The rally began when Blue Jays third baseman Brett Lawrie misplayed Nick Franklin's grounder leading off the inning, followed by a Kyle Seager single and a Kendrys Morales RBI double.

Michael Morse then drew a walk, chasing Toronto starter J.A. Happ in favor of Aaron Loup (4-4), and Michael Saunders' RBI groundout shaved the deficit to 7-5.

The M's then struck for the equalizing runs when Justin Smoak blasted a pitch off the fence in left-center field, scoring two, and Quintero followed by lofting his decisive two-run homer.

Brandon Maurer (3-7) hurled 3 1/3 innings of scoreless relief, overcoming five walks to notch the victory, and Danny Farquhar picked up his third save as the M's avoided a three-game sweep.
