NBA: Washington 106, LA Lakers 101

WASHINGTON, March 7 (UPI) -- Kevin Seraphin put Washington in front for good with 2:35 to play Wednesday and the Wizards went on to shock the Los Angeles Lakers 106-101.

Washington trailed by 21 points early in the second half and came back to record just its ninth victory of the season. The Lakers have lost their first two outings in a three-game road trip.

Andrew Bynum's layup with 2:54 left gave the Lakers their last lead of the game and Los Angeles managed just two points the rest of the way. The Lakers went 1-of-4 from the field down the stretch and suffered a turnover as well.

The Wizards built enough of a cushion to withstand four misses in six free-throw attempts over the final 13 seconds.

Nick Young led Washington with 19 points and five other Wizards were in double figures. Trevor Booker claimed a career-best 17 rebounds along with 18 points.

Seraphin also had a career high in points with 14. Washington had lost its nine previous meetings with the Lakers, having last defeated them in December, 2006.
