MLB: New York Yankees 10, Detroit 6

NEW YORK, April 2 (UPI) -- Mark Teixeira and Russell Martin each slammed three-run homers Saturday in the New York Yankees' 10-6 victory over Detroit.

Alex Rodriguez also homered en route to a two-hit, two-RBI performance, and Derek Jeter added a pair of hits and two runs scored for the Yankees, who won for the second time in two games on the young season.

A.J. Burnett (1-0) earned the victory despite allowing three runs on five hits over five innings. He walked one and struck out six.

Mariano Rivera picked up his first save of the year by getting the final out of the game.

Brad Penny (0-1) was pounded in his first start since signing with the Tigers, yielding eight runs on seven hits over just 4 1/3 frames. He walked four and fanned three.

Austin Jackson and Victor Martinez homered for Detroit.
