NBA: Washington 85, Boston 83

WASHINGTON, Jan. 22 (UPI) -- John Wall's 3-pointer in the final minute Saturday was the difference in Washington's 85-83 victory over Boston, which was without Shaquille O'Neal.

Paul Pierce had a chance to win the game but his shot with less than 2 seconds left missed.

The decisive basket by Wall gave him 16 points for the game to go with six rebounds and four assists. Sharard Lewis had a team-high 18 points with 11 rebounds.

Kevin Garnett led the Celtics with 17 points and Pierce tallied 12. Ray Allen and Rajon Rondo reached double figures, as well.

O'Neal sat out the game with a right leg and hip injury he suffered the night before in a win over Utah.

Despite the end of their five-game win streak, Boston still has won seven of its last 10 games and leads the NBA Eastern Conference with a 33-10 mark.

The Wizards, who beat the Celtics for just the second time in their last nine meetings, have taken five of their last 10 games overall but are still 12th in the East.
