NBA: Phoenix 109, Washington 91

WASHINGTON, Jan. 21 (UPI) -- Channing Frye made seven shots from 3-point range Friday to help the Phoenix Suns pull away in the second half for a 109-91 victory over Washington.

Phoenix won its fifth consecutive game and has defeated the Wizards in each of their last nine meetings.

Channing scored 25 points, making 9-of-15 shots. Steve Nash added 17 points and 14 assists for the Suns, Marcin Gortat produced 13 points and 14 rebounds and Vince Carter scored 12.

Phoenix had won no more than three in a row this season before embarking on its current streak. The last three victories have come on a five-game road trip that will conclude with games at Detroit and Philadelphia.

Nick Young scored 25 points for Washington. The game was tied 4 minutes deep in the third quarter, but the Suns outscored the Wizards 25-13 during the rest of the period to take control.
