NHL: Boston 3, Florida 2 (SO)

SUNRISE, Fla., Dec. 27 (UPI) -- Blake Wheeler got the only goal in a shootout and assisted on the game-tying regulation tally Monday in the Boston Bruins' 3-2 win over Florida.

After Wheeler bested Scott Clemmensen in the shootout's third round, Tim Thomas stopped Evgeny Dadonov to seal the victory, the Burins' third win in four tries.

Wheeler found David Krejci in the crease with a backhand pass and Krejci popped it past Clemmensen midway through the third period for his second goal of the game, forging a 2-2 tie that lasted throughout a scoreless 5-minute overtime.

Thomas stopped 32-of-34 shots for Boston.

David Booth and Mike Santorelli got the Panthers goals and Clemmensen absorbed the defeat despite making 40 saves.
