MLB: New York Yankees 7, Texas 2

NEW YORK, Oct. 20 (UPI) -- Nick Swisher and Robinson Cano hit back-to-back homers Wednesday, helping the New York Yankees stay alive with a 7-2 win over Texas in Game 5 of the ALCS.

Curtis Granderson added a solo shot and went 3-for-4 with a pair of RBI for the Yankees, who avoided elimination and forced a Game 6 to be played Friday in Arlington, Texas.

Jorge Posada collected two hits and drove in a run to back CC Sabathia (1-0), who survived an inconsistent outing in which he surrendered a pair of runs on 11 hits over six frames, walking none and striking out seven.

The Yankees grabbed a 3-0 lead off Texas starter C.J. Wilson (0-1) in the second inning thanks to RBI singles by Posada and Granderson and outfielder Jeff Francoeur's fielding error.

Swisher and Cano followed with their back-to-back shots in the next frame and the Yankees never looked back.

Matt Treanor homered and drove in drove in both runs for Texas, which will attempt to reach the first World Series in franchise history with a Game 6 win in its home park.
