MLB: Texas 7, New York Yankees 2

ARLINGTON, Texas, Oct. 16 (UPI) -- David Murphy homered and added an RBI double Saturday in the Texas Rangers' 7-2 victory over the New York Yankees in Game 2 of the ALCS.

Murphy's solo shot in the second inning put Texas up 2-0 and Mitch Moreland added two hits and an RBI to help Texas notch the first post-season victory in the franchise's 49-year history.

Colby Lewis (1-0) held the Yankees to two runs on six hits over 5 2/3 innings, yielding three walks and striking out six for the Rangers, who evened the seven-game series at one win apiece.

The series now switches to New York for the next three games.

Yankees starter Phil Hughes (0-1) was rocked for all seven runs on 10 hits over four innings, walking three and fanning three.

Robinson Cano homered among his two hits for New York.
