MLB: Texas 8, New York Yankees 0

NEW YORK, Oct. 18 (UPI) -- Cliff Lee hurled eight shutout innings and Texas exploded for six runs in the ninth inning Monday, pounding the New York Yankees 8-0 in Game 3 of the ALCS.

The Rangers remained perfect on the road in the post-season and posted a 2-games-to-1 lead in the best-of-seen American League Championship Series.

Lee (1-0) was masterful, allowing two hits while fanning 13 Yankees and issuing only one walk. He has struck out 67 batters in 64 1/3 post-season innings for the Rangers this year, walking only seven while raising his career playoff record to 7-0.

The Rangers led 2-0 for much of the game on Josh Hamilton's two-run, first-inning homer, but they broke the game wide open in the ninth, scoring six times while sending 11 men to the plate. Mitch Moreland highlighted the onslaught with a two-run single.

Yankees starter Andy Pettitte (0-1) yielded only two runs on five hits over seven frames while the New York bullpen was battered for six runs.

The Yankees will try to even the series in Tuesday night's Game 4.
