Wozniacki defeated French Open champion and No. 6 seed Francesca Schiavone 6-3, 6-2. Schiavone was playing in the quarterfinals of a tournament for the first time since her surprise win in Paris.

Wozniacki's semifinal opponent will be Svetlana Kuznetsova, who breezed past Zheng Jie 6-1, 6-3.

Kuznetsova, a two-time winner in major events, has captured nine of her last 10 matches and won in San Diego two weeks ago.

Zvonareva will play Victoria Azarenka in the semis.

Azarenka also has nine wins in 10 outings, a stretch that included a championship in Stanford last month. She ousted Marion Bartoli 6-2, 7-6 (8-6).
