MLB: Kansas City 7, Tampa Bay 4 (10 inn)

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., July 7 (UPI) -- John Buck hit a three-run homer in the 10th inning Monday to give the Kansas City Royals a 7-4 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays.

Tampa Bay tied the score at 3-3 in the bottom of the ninth with a solo home run by Carlos Pena.

In the top of the 10th, Billy Butler reached on Evan Longoria's throwing error, stopping at second. Mark Teahen's groundout moved him to third before Ross Gload was intentionally walked by Dan Wheeler (2-4).

Buck's homer gave Kansas City a 6-3 edge, and Mike Aviles followed with a solo home run.

Joakim Soria (1-1) allowed a homer by Eric Hinske in bottom of the 10th but then struck out Ben Zobrist and got Akinori Iwamura to hit a game-ending groundout.

David DeJesus had three hits, including a two-run triple for the Royals, who won for the second time in their last seven games. Aviles had three hits.

Tampa Bay had a seven-game win streak halted.
