MLB: Kansas City 4, Cleveland 2

KANSAS CITY, Mo., May 31 (UPI) -- David DeJesus had two hits and two RBI Saturday to lift the Kansas City Royals past Cleveland 4-2.

DeJesus hit a solo homer in the bottom of the third inning and an RBI double in the fourth.

Mark Grudzielanek and Joey Gathright had one RBI apiece. Like DeJesus, Grudzielanek had two hits for the Royals, who snapped a season-high 12-game losing streak.

Winner Kyle Davies (1-0), making his first start this season, giving up an earned run and five hits in five innings.

After two relievers held Cleveland scoreless in the sixth and seventh innings, closer Joakim Soria recorded his 12th save. He gave up an RBI groundout to David Dellucci in the top of the eighth.

Jamey Carroll had one RBI while both Franklin Gutierrez and Casey Blake had two hits for the Indians, who have split their last four games.

Cleveland losing pitcher C.C. Sabathia (3-7) went the distance, surrendering four earned runs and eight hits.
