NHL: Calgary 5, San Jose 4

CALGARY, Alberta, Jan. 31 (UPI) -- Owen Nolan recorded the 11th hat trick of his career Wednesday and Calgary needed all his goals to fight off San Jose 5-4.

It was Nolan's first hat trick in eight seasons.

Calgary also got goals from Wayne Primeau and Dion Phaneuf in winning its fourth straight game. Miikka Kiprusoff made 27 saves in what was the Flames' first game in eight days.

San Jose goals came from Patrick Marleau, Tomas Plihal, Patrick Rissmiller and Jonathan Cheechool. The Sharks had a three-game winning streak snapped.

San Jose faced a 4-1 deficit going into the third period, but reduced that margin to a single goal. Nolan then delivered his third of the night at 10:45 by grabbing a rebound and putting it past Evgeni Nabokov.
