NHL: Boston 2, Buffalo 1

BOSTON, Nov. 10 (UPI) -- Chuck Kobasew scored a game-winning goal Saturday night, as the Boston Bruins topped the Buffalo Sabres, 2-1.

Kobasew's seventh goal of the season came when he batted a rebound out of the air on a shot by teammate Dennis Wideman between his legs, on the backhand, and past Buffalo goalie Ryan Miller.

That tally, at 8:45 of the third period, capped the night's scoring.

Boston's Marco Sturm scored his seventh goal late in the second to create a 1-0 lead.

Goalie Tim Thomas made 45 saves despite being bombarded by 46 Buffalo shots for the Bruins, who broke a four-game losing streak.

Buffalo's goal was scored by Daniel Paille at 8:13 of the third.

Miller was beaten twice on 22 shots for the Sabres, who have lost five of their last six games, scoring two goals or fewer in five straight contests.

There were no power play goals on a combined 11 chances.
