Granger, McGrady win weekly NBA honors

NEW YORK, Nov. 5 (UPI) -- Indiana's Danny Granger and Houston's Tracy McGrady, whose teams are both 3-0, were selected the NBA players of the week Monday.

Granger claimed the Eastern Conference weekly honor after averaging 22.7 points and 8.7 rebounds a game. He connected on 10-of-20 shots from three-point range. It marked the first NBA player of the week honor for the third-year player out of New Mexico.

McGrady posted a league-best 32.3 point average on the week, with a 47-point effort against Utah topping his point total. He chipped in 4.7 assists and 4.3 rebounds a game in winning the NBA Western Conference player of the week honor.

Also considered for the NBA player of the week award were Boston's Ray Allen, Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce; Detroit's Chauncey Billups; New Jersey's Richard Jefferson; New Orleans' Chris Paul; Orlando's Hedo Turkoglu; Phoenix's Shawn Marion and Steve Nash; and San Antonio's Manu Ginobili.
