Ochoa wins Canadian Women’s Open

EDMONTON, Alberta, Aug. 19 (UPI) -- World No. 1 Lorena Ochoa Sunday shot a 2-under 69 to capture the LPGA Canadian Open at Edmonton, Alberta, with a tournament record 16-under 268.

Ochoa was at 14-under-par 199 after 54 holes Saturday, besting Meg Mallon’s three-round record of 200. Ochoa Sunday broke Mallon’s tournament record of 269 -- as she won her fifth title of the year and her 14th on the LPGA Tour.

Paula Creamer (68) finished second at 13-under 271. Shi Hyun Ahn finished with a 66 Sunday, to take third place at 10-under 274.

First-round leader Laura Diaz (72) and Brittany Lang (70) tied for fourth at 9-under 275. Ya-Ni Tseng (71), Jeong Jang (68) and Kim Hall (69) were tied for sixth at 8-under 276.

Seon-Hwa Lee shot a closing round of 7-under 64 to finish ninth.
