MLB: Kansas City 7, N.Y. Yankees 0

KANSAS CITY, Mo., July 26 (UPI) -- Jorge De La Rosa combined with two relievers on a six-hitter Thursday night as the Kansas City Royals cooled off the New York Yankees, 7-0.

Alex Gordon had three hits -- including a homer -- helping the Royals avoid a four-game sweep and end the Yankees' winning streak at six games.

De La Rosa (8-10) gave up all the New York hits over 5 1/3 innings. Zack Greinke retired all eight men he faced and Joakim Soria worked a perfect ninth to preserve the shutout.

Kei Igawa (2-3) took the loss, giving up five runs on seven hits in 5 2/3 innings.

Alex Rodriguez, whose next home run will be his 500th, was hitless in two at-bats with a walk. He also was hit by a pitch.
