MLB: N.Y. Yankees 9, Kansas City 2

KANSAS CITY, Mo., July 23 (UPI) -- Johnny Damon, Hideki Matsui and Jorge Posada combined for six RBI and Roger Clemens gave up only two runs Monday as the New York Yankees beat Kansas City 9-2.

Clemens (3-4) went seven innings to get career win No. 351. The Royals managed just four hits off Clemens, who struck out three and issued no walks.

After scoring 45 runs in three straight wins over Tampa Bay, the Yankees collected 11 singles against the Royals to improve to 15-5 over their last 20 games. The only extra base hits for New York were Damon's double and Posada's first triple of the year.

Alex Rodriguez drove in his 100th run of the season with an RBI single in the ninth inning.

Royals lefthander Odalis Perez (5-9) surrendered four runs on five hits through the first two innings but didn't give another run over the rest of his seven innings.
