NBA: Chicago 102, Detroit 87

CHICAGO, May 13 (UPI) -- Luol Deng had a game-high 25 points Sunday afternoon as the Chicago Bulls beat Detroit, 102-87 -- their first win in the Eastern Conference semifinal series.

Chicago averted a four-game sweep by building a 27-19 lead after one quarter, and stretching it to 77-56 after the third.

Kirk Hinrich and Ben Gordon scored 19 points each; Ben Wallace had 11 points and 17 rebounds; and Hinrich added 10 assists for the Bulls -- who led, 50-43, at the half.

Chauncey Billups led Detroit with 23 points and eight assists. Tayshaun Prince had 18 points and seven rebounds, while Rasheed Wallace ended with 14 points and seven rebounds for the Pistons -- who will try again Tuesday night to end the series at home in Game 5.

Detroit's Chris Webber was held scoreless for the second straight game.
