MLB: Texas 14, N.Y. Yankees 2

NEW YORK, May 10 (UPI) -- Mark Teixeira had four hits, scored three times and drove in three runs Thursday as Texas routed the New York Yankees 14-2.

Using a 16-hit attack, Texas capped its big win by scoring seven times in the top of the eighth inning, when Victor Diaz hit a pinch grand slam homer.

Sammy Sosa had three hits and two RBI and Brad Wilkerson scored two runs and drove in three for Texas. Jerry Hairston Jr. and Hank Blalock both had one RBI, while Gerald Laird and Kenny Lofton scored twice each for the Rangers, who have split their last four games.

The winner was starter Brandon McCarthy (3-4).

New York got its runs on Melky Cabrera's solo homer and an error. Cabrera and Derek Jeter both had two hits for the Yankees, who also have split their last four.

The losing pitcher was Chien-Ming Wang (1-3).
