MLB: N.Y. Yankees 3, Boston 1

NEW YORK, April 28 (UPI) -- Jorge Posada hit a two-run homer Saturday to help the New York Yankees beat Boston, 3-1, and snap a seven-game losing streak.

Melky Cabrera hit an RBI double, and Derek Jeter had three of the seven hits for the Yankees, who last lost seven in a row to end the 2000 season.

Winner Kei Igawa (2-1) gave up two hits in six scoreless innings in relief of starter Jeff Karstens -- who took a line drive on his right knee off the bat of Julio Lugo on his first pitch of the game.

Karstens left the game after being looked at by team trainers.

Mariano Rivera earned his first save of the season. He got roughed up in the ninth inning Friday night, giving up five runs.

Boston got its lone run on an RBI single by Mike Lowell in the eighth.

Loser Tim Wakefield (2-3) yielded three earned runs and five hits in 5 1/3 innings.
