NBA: Chicago 83, Detroit 81

CHICAGO, March 29 (UPI) -- Tyrus Thomas scored eight of his 13 points in the fourth quarter Thursday night to help the Chicago Bulls edge the Detroit Pistons, 83-81.

After an eight-point first quarter deficit, Detroit out-scored Chicago, 24-13, to forge a 41-38 halftime lead.

Chicago rallied behind Ben Gordon and Luol Deng.

Gordon had 25 points, three rebounds and two assists; Deng had 16 points, eight rebounds and five assists. Kirk Hinrich had 15 points and eight assists -- including two free throws with 2.8 seconds left -- and Thomas had 10 rebounds to go with 19 boards for Ben Wallace.

The Bulls out-rebounded Detroit, 51-37, in their third straight win.

Tayshaun Prince led Detroit with 26 points, six rebounds and five assists. Rasheed Wallace had 19 points and seven rebounds, and Chauncey Billups added 12 points and seven assists for the Pistons, who suffered only their second loss in their last 14 games at Chicago.
