MELBOURNE, Jan. 23 (UPI) -- World No. 1 Roger Federer rolled to another victory Tuesday, gaining a semifinals' berth in the 2007 Australian Open.
Federer will go against sixth-seeded Andy Roddick in the semifinals. Both posted straight-set wins in the quarterfinals.
Roddick defeated unseeded Mardy Fish 6-2, 6-2, 6-2 in a very solid outing in which he committed two unforced errors and dropped serve once. It will be Roddick's third trip to the Australian semis; he's never made it to the tournament title match.
And this year the road is very tough as Federer, who won the Australian Open in 2004 and 2006 and has played in six consecutive Grand Slam finals, overcame having his serve broken four times in his 6-3, 7-6 (7-2), 7-5 win over seventh-seeded Tommy Robredo.
Federer has not dropped a set in this year's tournament, owns a 35-match winning streak and is 12-1 lifetime against Roddick.
The other men's draw quarterfinals are set for Wednesday with second-seeded Rafael Nadal playing No. 10 Fernando Gonzalez and third-seeded Nikolay Davydenko meeting No. 12 Tommy Haas.
