MLB: Oakland 6, Seattle 2

SEATTLE, June 21 (UPI) -- Bobby Kielty fired a four-run eighth-inning rally with a home run, lifting the Oakland Athletics to a 6-2 win over the Seattle Mariners at Safeco Field.

Kielty swatted a solo home run and Mark Kotsay added a three-run hit for the win, which was also due in large part to Oakland starter Dan Haren. He threw eight strong innings, retiring 15 of 16 Mariners during one stretch. Kiko Calero picked up his second save with a scoreless ninth.

Seattle reliever Ron Villone, 2-3, took the loss after one inning of work in which his home run ball to Kielty was his only mistake.

Nick Swisher went 2-for-4 on the night, and also homered for Oakland, while Jason Kendall and Dan Johnson each logged a pair of hits.

Adrian Beltre and Jeremy Reed had two hits apiece for Seattle.
