Levens headed back to the Eagles

PHILADELPHIA, Aug. 22 (UPI) -- The Philadelphia Eagles reportedly have agreed to terms with veteran running back Dorsey Levens.

The reports say Levens, who played for the Eagles in 2002, will fill the void left by running back Correll Buckhalter. Buckhalter suffered a torn patella tendon in his right knee in a non-contact play against Baltimore on Friday night and is done for the year.

Buckhalter and Brian Westbrook were expected to carry the load for Philadelphia in 2004 after veteran back Duce Staley departed for the Pittsburgh Steelers in the offseason.

Levens, 34, is very familiar with the offense, having played for Coach Andy Reid two years ago in Philadelphia, as well as in Green Bay. Reid is a former Packers' quarterback coach.

Levens signed with the New York Giants as a free agent last season and saw limited action.

For his career, the Georgia Tech product has 4,545 yards and 32 scores. He also has 17 TDs receiving.
