Phoenix 6, Calgary 3

PHOENIX, Dec. 20 (UPI) -- Claude Lemieux and Shane Doan each scored twice and rookie Krystofer Kolanos had a pair of assists Wednesday night as the Phoenix Coyotes rallied for six unanswered goals and a 6-3 triumph over the Calgary Flames.

Lemieux scored the eventual game-winner with a minute left in the second period, redirecting Kolanos' wrist shot from the left faceoff circle by goaltender Roman Turek.

The last time the Phoenix franchise came back from a three-goal deficit was Nov. 30, 1993, when as the Winnipeg Jets they dug themselves out of a 4-1 hole and defeated Los Angeles, 8-6.

Lemieux got his first goal of the night with just under 2 1/2 minutes left in the opening period to get Phoenix on the board. He scored on another redirection, this one on a shot by defenseman Danny Markov.

Doan collected his first goal at home this season six minutes into the second period to knot it at 3-3 and capped the scoring with 67 seconds to play.

Phoenix cut the deficit to 3-2 just nine seconds after Lemieux's first goal when Calgary defenseman Robyn Regehr coughed up the puck and Michal Handzus skated in alone before slipping it through Turek's pads.

Daymond Langkow also scored for the Coyotes, who have won five of their last six at home.

The Flames built a 3-0 lead in the first period on a pair of goals by Toni Lydman and another by fellow defenseman Bob Boughner. But Turek surrendered a season-high six goals on 29 shots as Calgary fell to 3-9-4 in its last 16 games.
