Nov. 19 (UPI) -- Police in Maine said a fugitive sheep was captured by a pair of local farmers after more than a month on the lamb.

The Augusta Police Department said the sheep had been evading capture by the department's animal control officer for over a month in the Hummingbird Lane neighborhood.

"Although several sightings have brought our ACO within a couple of 'yarns' of catching it, not until our friends, Brenda Pinkham and her husband who own an alpaca farm, were able to snare it and hold for authorities," the department said in a Facebook post.

Police said the sheep would be returned to its owner.
