Nov. 1 (UPI) -- The Beastie Boys -- Michael 'Mike D' Diamond and Adam 'Ad-Rock' Horovitz -- shared stories about late member Adam 'MCA' Yauch on The Tonight Show.

The hip-hop group was on hand Wednesday to promote their recently released Beastie Boys Book which chronicles their career and contains rare photos, original illustrations, a cookbook by chef Roy Choi, a graphic novel and more.

Horovitz told host Jimmy Fallon how Yauch pulled an elaborate prank on him that was 15 years in the making.

Horovitz explained how he was given a peculiar ring by a fan in 1992 that mysteriously ended up in his bag after it had been put away on a shelf. The rapper was then shocked to discover the same ring in a new bag 15 years later while on tour.

"I was freaking out and then like about a week later Yauch pulled me aside on tour and was like, 'Hey man. I put that ring in your bag,'" Horovitz said. "Who does that?"

The Beastie Boys also said their group name is an acronym for boys entering anarchistic states towards inner excellence.

Fallon presented The Beastie Boys with a video of himself lip-syncing the words to "So What'cha Want" when he was in high school.

"You really are an inspiration and influence to so many artists out there, but definitely including me," Fallon said.
