Jan. 18 (UPI) -- Gilmore Girls star Matt Czuchry says fans would accost him over his character on the show.

The 40-year-old actor recalled on Wednesday's episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert how people would call him names after he joined The WB/CW series as Logan Huntzberger.

"Yeah, you know, in the first season [I was on the show] especially, people would just come up to me immediately without saying anything and say, 'You know, you're a real [expletive],'" Czuchry told host Stephen Colbert.

"I would ask them, 'Okay, why am I an [expletive]?' and they'd say, 'You know why you're an [expletive],'" he said.

Czuchry's character was introduced in Season 5 as a love interest of Rory Gilmore (Alexis Bledel). The people who accosted Czuchry were often fans of Rory's beaus Jess Mariano (Milo Ventimiglia) and Dean Forester (Jared Padalecki).

"Then they'd say, 'No, no, no I'm Team Jess or Team Dean,'" the actor said. "I went, 'Oh! You're talking about the character on the show.' I didn't know what was going on. Literally people would just come up to me and say how much of an [expletive] I was.'"

Czuchry reprised Logan for the Netflix revival Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, which debuted in November 2016. He told TV Guide this month he "hasn't heard anything" about future episodes.
