NEW YORK, May 14 (UPI) -- The Good Wife and Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip alum Amanda Peet has joined the cast of IFC's upcoming comedy series Brockmire.

The show will be executive produced by Hank Azaria, who will also star as "disgraced sportscaster Jim Brockmire, who is trying to rebuild his life and career after an epic, on-air meltdown that went viral before there was viral, trended before there were trends and gained immediate international notoriety," the cable network said in a press release.

"Peet will play Jules, the strong-willed owner of a struggling, minor-league baseball team located in a small, American rust-belt town that has seen better decades."

The season of eight, 30-minute episodes is scheduled to premiere in 2017. The show is based on a Funny or Die viral video.

"Amanda will bring her extraordinary comedic sensibility to the role of Jules and her chemistry with Hank Azaria will be a home run for Brockmire," Jennifer Caserta, IFC's president, said in a statement Friday.
