Taylor Swift, Idina Menzel help ring in 2015 in New York's Times Square

Mayor Bill de Blasio, along with his wife, son and daughter, helped activate the iconic ball during the countdown to midnight in freezing midtown Manhattan.

NEW YORK, Jan. 1 (UPI) -- Taylor Swift, MAGIC! and Idina Menzel helped the estimated 1 million revelers ring in 2015 in New York City's Times Square Wednesday evening.

The recording artists performed as part of the Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest lineup. Elton John also sang his anthem "I'm Still Standing" in a special live appearance from his concert at Barclays Center in Brooklyn for the ABC program.

NBC's New Year's Eve with Carson Daly featured performances in Times Square by Tony Bennett, Lady Gaga, Seth MacFarlane, Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani and Pharrell Williams.

Mayor Bill de Blasio, along with his wife, son and daughter, helped activate the iconic 12-foot diameter, Waterford crystal-encrusted ball during the countdown to midnight in freezing midtown Manhattan.

Rapper Pitbull headlined the warm-weather party Pitbull's New Year's Revolution in his native Miami for Fox.
