LOS ANGELES, Oct. 29 (UPI) -- Margot Robbie recently posed as Harley Quinn for Empire magazine.

The 25-year-old Australian actress showed off her look in a cover shoot for the publication's December issue. Robbie will play the character, aka Harleen Quinzel, in the forthcoming movie Suicide Squad, and discussed the role in the interview.

"When I got the role I started looking up Harley costumes online, with my mum sitting next to me," the star recalled. "She was like, 'My daughter is going to dress like a prostitute!' There are a lot of angry mothers out there!"

Robbie was spotted with a motorcycle on the film's set in May, and appeared in costume in the movie's San Diego Comic-Con trailer in July. She previously told MTV she was initially nervous to take on the DC Comics role.

"I guess it's intimidating because there's obviously a lot of people I want to please and a character I have to do justice," she said. "But it's a challenge, I'm definitely up for it, and hopefully I don't disappoint."

Several of Robbie's co-stars appear on their own Empire covers, including Cara Delevingne as the sorceress Enchantress. The movie opens Aug. 5, 2016, with Jared Leto as the Joker, Will Smith as Deadshot, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag and Jai Courtney as Boomerang.
