LOS ANGELES, Aug. 26 (UPI) -- Jared Leto cut off the green hair he sported for Suicide Squad on Tuesday.

The 43-year-old actor revealed he shed the neon look by sharing a photo of his hair clippings on Instagram. Leto simply captioned the photo "Goodbye..." with a series of green-colored emojis.

The star had cut and dyed his hair to portray the DC Comics villain Joker in the upcoming film. The movie wrapped this week, and several cast members got matching tattoos this month to commemorate the end of filming.

Suicide Squad is directed by David Ayer, and opens in theaters Aug. 5, 2016. Margot Robbie co-stars as Harley Quinn, with Will Smith as Deadshot, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, Jai Courtney as Boomerang and Cara Delevingne as Enchantress.

The movie follows the titular team of antiheroes as they complete dangerous missions for the U.S. government in exchange for commuted prison sentences. Leto last appeared in Dallas Buyers Club with Matthew McConaughey, and won an Academy Award for his performance.
