NEW YORK, Dec. 7 (UPI) -- Britain's Prince William and his pregnant wife Kate have arrived in the United States for their planned tour of New York and Washington, D.C.
The royal couple flew into John F. Kennedy International Airport in Queens Sunday and were expected to check into the Carlyle hotel in Manhattan before going to a fundraising dinner for their Royal Foundation at the home of advertising titan Martin Sorrell, People magazine reported.
"It's been incredible to witness the level of excitement from people wanting to be part of it, wanting to attend, wanting to help us and support us," British Consul General Danny Lopez told the press early Sunday. "The level of excitement in New York has been absolutely phenomenal."
Prince William is the grandson of Queen Elizabeth II, and the elder son of Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana. William and Kate were married in 2011, and are the parents of 1-year-old Prince George. Kate is now pregnant with their second child.
