Katy Perry says she has taken up an expensive new hobby since her February breakup with John Mayer.
The 29-year-old singer spoke to E! News at the Museum of Contemporary Art's 35th Anniversary Gala, and said that Beverly Hills gallerist Marc Selwyn is helping to foster her newfound passion.
"I'm going to slowly become an art collector," Perry revealed.
"What I'm really drawn to is modern contemporary art and pop art, of course," the singer elaborated. "Also some key photography. I've always loved Cindy Sherman and today I got interested in Lee Friedlander."
"This is all brand new," Perry admitted. "I'm really interested in having an art history education."
The star said her new hobby is just one example of her out-with-the-old, in-with-the-new mindset.
"I'm challenging myself again," the singer said. "Pushing my limits as I do, as a Scorpion does."
Perry also said that she plans to dye her hair "slime green." The singer will embark on a new, seven-month tour, the Prismatic World Tour, on May 7.
"I'm very excited because I believe this is my best work yet as far as live performance," Perry said with enthusiasm. "It's going to be just as colorful and fun as before... [but] grown up. It's more mature."
