Shyamalan will make movie at Warner Bros.

LOS ANGELES, March 24 (UPI) -- M. Night Shyamalan will write and direct his next film for Warner Bros. Pictures, The Hollywood Reporter said Thursday.

Shyamalan has made his last four pictures for The Walt Disney Co. -- including his breakout hit "The Sixth Sense" and the blockbuster "Signs." Shyamalan and Disney discussed doing his new movie -- a fantasy thriller called "Lady in the Water" -- but decided mutually against it.

"We have a terrific relationship with Night," a Disney publicist told the paper, "and although we didn't agree creatively on this particular project, we look forward to working with him in the future."

Warner Bros. President Alan Horn issued a statement saying he hoped "Lady in the Water" would be "the first of many outstanding films that Night makes" at Warner Bros.

"Lady in the Water" is about an apartment building superintendent who finds a rare type of sea nymph swimming in the apartment pool. Filming is scheduled to begin in July in Philadelphia, where Shyamalan has made all of his movies.
