Britney may wed in Kabbalah ceremony

LOS ANGELES, July 27 (UPI) -- Britney Spears could become the first celebrity to wed in a ceremony inspired by the Jewish cult Kabbalah, it was reported Tuesday.

Spears has reserved a fall date for her wedding to Kevin Federline, to take place beneath a chuppah, a traditional Jewish canopy, with wedding vows inspired by the ancient religion, Britain's Daily Mail said.

Spears is among several Hollywood celebrities practicing Kabbalah, including Madonna and Demi Moore.

News of the Kabbalah wedding reportedly has upset Spears' family, who are Baptists, the Daily Mail said.

"There's some resistance from her family. But maybe there's a way to incorporate elements from both faiths and make everyone happy," said a friend.

Spears began dating Federline, a former dancer, in April.

The marriage will be Spears' second. She married her childhood friend Jason Alexander last January in Las Vegas, a union that was annulled after 55 hours.

Federline's ex-girlfriend, Shar Jackson, gave birth last week to her second child with Federline.
