MARATHON, Fla., Jan. 19 (UPI) -- Jane Carter, mother of singers Aaron and Nick Carter, has been arrested for allegedly assaulting her estranged husband's girlfriend.
Carter, 44, was charged with battery in the alleged attack of Ginger Elrod on Jan. 13 at her husband's Marathon, Fla., home, Launch Radio Networks reported Monday.
A Monroe County Sheriff's Office report said Carter entered the house by breaking a window of the Florida Keys home where John Carter and Elrod were sleeping and dragged the 29-year-old woman out of bed, allegedly hitting her with a remote control.
Angel Carter, the 16-year-old twin of Aaron, witnessed Jane Carter "physically beating" Elrod, the police report said.
Robert Carter told the Miami Herald Elrod is not pressing charges, but "restraining orders are in place."
