Fernandez from Louisville of the Pacific Coast League (AAA).
New York Yankees -- Optioned pitcher Randy Choate to Columbus
of the International League (AAA); recalled pitcher Brandon
Knight from Columbus.
HOCKEY
Mighty Ducks of Anaheim -- Named Charles Harris director of
publicity and community development.
Columbus Blue Jackets -- Signed defensemen Scott Lachance, who
had been with the Vancouver Canucks, and Luke Richardson, who
had been with the Philadelphia Flyers, to multi-year contracts.
Montreal Canadiens -- Signed free agent right wing Randy McKay,
who had been with the Dallas Stars, to a two-year contract;
agreed to terms with center Benoit Gratton on a two-year
contract; agreed to terms with defenseman Matt O'dette on a
one-year contract with an option for 2003-04.
New York Rangers -- Signed free agent goaltender Mike Richter,
who had been with the Edmonton Oilers.
