Doan gets multi-year deal from Coyotes

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Aug. 21 -- After scoring 26 goals each of the last two seasons for the Phoenix Coyotes, right wing Shane Doan has been rewarded with a multi-year deal.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

"Shane Doan has emerged as one of the NHL's best power forwards," said General Manager Cliff Fletcher. "We are excited about the way he has matured as a player and we look forward to watching him for many years to come."

Along with ranking second on the Coyotes in goals and points (63) last season, the 6-2, 223-pounder was the team's most physical player with 206 hits.

Doan, who turns 25 in October, enjoyed his breakout year in the 1999-2000 campaign, with 26 goals and 25 assists.NEWLN:
