The 24-year-old spent parts of three seasons with the Edmonton Oilers before being traded to Nashville on June 26, 1999. He has seven goals, 13 assists and 63 penalty minutes in 98 career NHL games.

Gusev, 25, has not played an NHL game this season as he recovers from a knee injury suffered Sept. 9 in training camp. He just completed a three-game conditioning stint with the Detroit Vipers of the International Hockey League.

Gusev is in his third season with Tampa Bay after starting his career with the Dallas Stars.

The Lightning also activated right wing Jaroslav Svejkovsky off injured reserve and assigned him to Detroit of the IHL.
