Flyers re-sign Andy Delmore

PHILADELPHIA, July 25 -- Andy Delmore, one of the Philadelphia Flyers' young defenseman who had a strong playoff performance, Tuesday re-signed a two-year contract.

Delmore, 23, played 27 regular-season games during his 1999-2000 rookie season and collected just seven points. But he turned it up in 18 postseason games, scoring five goals to share the NHL lead among rookies with teammate Simon Gagne.

In Game Five of the Eastern Conference semifinals against Pittsburgh, Delmore became the first rookie in posteason history to record a hat trick.

The LaSalle, Ontario native signed with the Flyers as a free agent on June 9, 1997.NEWLN:
