Thrashers sign Burt, Lambert

ATLANTA, July 14 -- The Atlanta Thrashers Friday agreed to terms with unrestricted free agent defenseman Adam Burt and restricted free agent Denny Lambert.

Burt, who played for the Philadelphia Flyers last season, had one goal and six assists with 45 penalty minutes in 67 regular-season games. In 11 playoff contests, he had one assist and led the team with a plus-4 rating.

The 6-2, 210-pound Burt has 37 goals, 113 assists and 834 penalty minutes in 710 career games over 12 seasons with Hartford-Carolina and Philadelphia. He originally was selected by the Whalers in the second round of the 1987 NHL Entry Draft.

Burt, 31, was a Group III Free Agent -- age 31 or older with at least four years of NHL experience.

Lambert led the NHL in 1999-00 with 219 penalty minutes in 73 games. He had five goals and six assists and won Atlanta's Player's Player Award as the person who best exemplified being a "team player." The award is voted on by the Thrashers players.

In a six-year NHL career, the 5-10, 215-pound Lambert has 24 goals, 54 assists and 863 penalty minutes in 347 games for Anaheim, Ottawa, Nashville and Atlanta.
