Flyers get Janssens from Blackhawks

CHICAGO, June 12 -- Mark Janssens is headed to his eighth NHL team as the Philadelphia Flyers acquired the veteran Monday from the Chicago Blackhawks for a ninth-round pick in this month's draft.

A defensive-oriented center, Janssens, 32, missed 33 games last season after undergoing surgery to repair a herniated disk in his back. He had six assists and 73 penalty minutes with a plus-minus rating of minus-6 in 36 games with the Blackhawks.

The 6-3, 212-pounder has appeared in 683 career NHL games, compiling 40 goals and 73 assists. Originally drafted by the New York Rangers in 1986, Janssens has also played with the Minnesota North Stars, Hartford, Anaheim, the New York Islanders and Phoenix.
