He and Gino Schiraldi are the only remaining original members of the Comets that began playing in Kansas City in 1981. DiPede is one of 15 players in the MISL that have performed in each of the league's seven seasons.

The 5-foot-10, 160-pound goalkeeper played two years with New York and one with Chicago before joining the Comets.

DiPede holds most of the Comets' goalkeeping records, including most career games played (118), most victories (39), most saves (1,642) and most minutes played (5,905). He also has 15 assists as a member of the Comets and 21 in his career. He is second in the MISL for career assists by a goalkeeper.

In 145 career games, DiPede has a 52-68 record and a 5.03 goals against average.

His best season was 1983-84, when he posted career highs for victories, with 18, and a 4.79 goals against average. He also was selected as the starting goalkeeper for the Western Division in the 1984 MISL all-star game.
