BELGRADE, Yugoslavia -- The Yugoslav soccer association Friday turned down formal requests by five players to leave the country - although three of them already have moved to new clubs in Western European countries.

The association refused on a 9-7 vote to allow Vladimir Petrovic, Safet Susic and Dusan Savic to play abroad because none of the players involved was 28 years old.

International winger Petrovic signed for London club Arsenal, striker Susic intended to play for Paris Saint Germain and Savic, also a striker, was heading for Spain to play for Sporting Gijon.

Another two players who were not given permission to play abroad were Zoran Lukic and Dzevad Secerbegovic.
