TORONTO, Feb. 19 (UPI) -- Toronto Mayor Rob Ford took to his new YouTube show to refute accusations that he is homophobic.

"I am not homophobic," Ford said on his show "Ford Nation" that he hosts with his brother Doug Ford.

"I will go to anyone’s house, anyone’s place to help them out. I take offense when people say that to me," he added.

The accusations of homophobia stem from Ford defending a request that the gay pride flag hanging atop city hall to show solidarity with the Russian LGBT community during the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics be taken down.

The YouTube show he hosts with his brother is an effort to "reinvent" the embattled politician's image as he gears up for re-election after a string of scandals involving crack smoking, drunkenness and erratic behavior.
