Dec. 2 (UPI) -- Van Halen vocalist David Lee Roth delivered some good news for fans of the longtime rockers: New music is headed our way.

Roth, in an interview with SiriusXM's Jim Florentine, revealed a new album is likely about 18 months away.

"I was up at Edward [Van Halen]'s house, maybe three days ago, and we're starting to put music together," Roth said.

"We start way, way, way in advance, 'cause we are eminently art-centric, which is a really fancy way of saying we really do generate all the artwork, the graphics, etc," he explained. "Same thing with the merchandise: If you buy a t-shirt, that was designed, literally, in my living room."

Roth said the band, which also includes Wolfgang and Alex Van Halen, gets together about three times a week to practice new material.

"Oh, yeah, we're writing," he said "I write lyrics routinely. It's a perishable skill. And the band plays together routinely, at least three times a week. They’re up at Ed’s place, routinely."
