Nov. 27 (UPI) -- Katherine Webb is trying to be a good girlfriend getting ready to cheer on her boyfriend, Alabama University quarterback A.J. McCarron, at the Iron Bowl on Saturday.

The only problem? Webb is a graduate of Bama rival Auburn University -- the Crimson Tide's opponent in this weekend's game.

“This is the first actual game, Iron Bowl, that I will be attending,” she said. “I don’t know what to expect and I’m really nervous.”

The QB shares his lady love's concern.

“AJ just in his protective nature, we talked about it," she said. "And he was like, ‘I’m concerned. I don’t know what the fans are gonna do.’ And I’m like, ‘It’s OK. I’ll be sweet, genuine and nice like I always am if anything were to happen.’"

Webb said the fans at Auburn have always been pleasant, but there's no guarantee that will stay the same, with the Iron Bowl bragging rights on the line. Alabama is undefeated this season, and Auburn is 10-1. The winner of the bowl game heads to play for the SEC championship in Atlanta.

"Of course I want to see AJ have that fourth championship ring, so I really want them to do well," Webb said, leaving no question which side she would be rooting for. "That’s what I’m nervous about. I’m not nervous about his talent or abilities as a player. Of course, I would be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous about the outcome.”
