Dec. 20 (UPI) -- Following reports that Ke$ha's hit single 'Die Young' was taken out of radio rotations in the wake of the Newtown shooting due to its sensitive content, the singer responded with both an apology and an alleged confession that she never wanted to record the song in the first place.

"I understand. I had my very own issue with 'die young' for this reason. I did NOT want to sing those lyrics and I was FORCED TO," she tweeted on December 18, according to the Huffington Post. As of now, the tweet has been deleted from her account and replaced with this one.

Ke$ha's admission to having problems with 'Die Young' came as a surprise to many given that her name appears on the track's credited songwriters along with Dr. Luke, Lukasz Gottwald, Henry Walter, Benjamin Levin, and Nate Ruess, Gossip Cop reported.

Ke$ha's hit song has not been the only one to receive criticism following the tragic Newtown Shooting. According to TMZ, Foster the People's 'Pumped Up Kicks' has also been taken out of radio rotations since the incident. The song's chorus goes,

All the other kids with the pumped up kicks, You better run, better run, outrun my gun.
All the other kids with the pumped up kicks, You better run, better run, faster than my bullet.

Movie premieres for violent films such as Quentin Tarantino's 'Django Unchained' and Tom Cruise's 'Jack Reacher' have also been cancelled out of respect for the victim's of the shooting.
